Support for Neurodevelopmental Disorders

At Franck Origins, we recognise that neurodivergent individuals are not broken or flawed. They experience the world differently, and that difference matters. Living with a neurodevelopmental disorder is a unique experience, one that can bring both challenges and strengths. Many people are navigating a recent diagnosis, while others have managed symptoms for years without having a clear name for what they are experiencing.  Embracing neurodiversity means recognising the value in different ways of thinking, feeling, and processing the world. With the right support, whether it is extra time in exams or finding environments that suit a particular nervous system, you can access your potential and feel more understood. Whether you are seeking clarity, tools, or a safe space to work through daily difficulties, psychological support can make a meaningful difference.  We do therapy differently — drawing on approaches that are not only evidence-based but also neuroaffirming. While traditional models like CBT and DBT are adapted to support neurodiverse minds, we also incorporate therapies such as somatic therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which move away from diagnostic labels and instead focus on flexibility in functioning, nervous system regulation, and holistic well-being.

What are neurodevelopmental disorders?

Neurodevelopmental disorders are categorised as differences in the way the brain grows and functions, often affecting communication, learning, attention, and behaviour. These differences are not faults; they are part of the individual’s neurodiverse identity and can bring both strengths and struggles.  For example:

  • ADHD may involve difficulty focusing, sitting still, or completing tasks
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder can present as challenges with social interaction, communication, or sensitivity to sensory input.
  • Dyslexia often affects reading, writing, and the processing and understanding of information.

Each person experiences these differences uniquely, and support can help them navigate daily life with greater confidence and clarity.

How can psychologists help?

Therapy offers insight, structure, and space to reflect. Psychiatric support for neurodevelopmental disorders can help you:

  • Understand your diagnosis and what it means for your daily life
  • Manage emotional frustration, anxiety, or low self-esteem
  • Develop practical tools for focus, organisation, and communication
  • Navigate social relationships more confidently
  • Build self-awareness and a stronger sense of self-worth
  • Assist families in creating supportive home routines and school strategies

Sessions are collaborative and adapted to your unique needs. We work with adolescents, young adults, and adults of all ages. Family involvement is often encouraged, especially for younger clients.

What does support look like?

Support may include the following:

  • Individual psychotherapy tailored to your needs and age
  • Psychoeducation to help you and your family better understand the diagnosis
  • Skill-building for executive functioning, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Stress and anxiety management strategies
  • Collaboration with schools, medical professionals, or occupational therapists when needed

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. We will work at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of your current situation.

When should I reach out for this service for myself or for my child?

It may be time to reach out if you or your child has received a diagnosis and is unsure of what to do next, or if daily life feels exhausting, confusing, or filled with miscommunication. It may also be helpful if school, work, or social situations are becoming increasingly difficult to manage, or if you are a parent or caregiver feeling overwhelmed and seeking ways to support your child more effectively.  Getting support does not mean something is wrong. It means you are ready to learn more about yourself or your child and find ways to cope that feel supportive and sustainable.

Begin with understanding

Whether you are seeking guidance for yourself, your teen, or someone in your care, our team is here to support you with warmth, clinical insight, and respect.  Reach out today to learn more or schedule a session. Support is closer than you think.
