Fees and Medical Aid Information

Franck Origins Psychologists believe that mental health care should be accessible, transparent, and well-supported.

Below, you will find information about our session fees, our working relationship with medical aids, and the importance of Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs) in mental healthcare.

Our fees

Session fees range from R1300 to R1500, depending on the practitioner you see. We strive to keep our fees fair and in line with professional guidelines while also recognising the specialised training and quality of care we provide.

We are contracted with most medical aids and, where possible, will submit claims directly to your medical aid on your behalf. If your scheme requires pre-authorisation or you are unsure about your cover, we are happy to guide you through the process.

Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs)

Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs) are a set of healthcare services that all medical aid schemes in South Africa are legally required to cover, regardless of the plan you are on or your current financial contributions. These benefits are designed to ensure that all members have access to essential care when it is needed most, including mental health care.

Why PMBs matter in mental health

Mental health conditions can deeply impact your ability to function, work, and maintain relationships. Early and consistent access to appropriate care can significantly improve outcomes. The inclusion of mental health conditions in PMBs recognises this need, helping to reduce financial strain and ensure continuity of care, especially in a field that has often received less funding and attention compared to physical health.

What mental health conditions are covered?

PMBs cover a wide range of mental health diagnoses, including but not limited to:

  • Major depressive disorders
  • Bipolar and other affective disorders
  • Acute stress reactions and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Substance use disorders

These conditions often required structured clinical care, whether through inpatient support, outpatient psychotherapy, or psychiatric management. PMB provisions aim to ensure that members receive appropriate, diagnosis-specific care as determined by clinical guidelines, not financial barriers.
